Morning Flag Ceremony and Assembly

Each morning at the start of school, all classes meet in the court yard for the pledge, patriotic songs, and announcements. Children should be brought to school on time for this assembly so that proper flag etiquette can be fostered. Late arrivals should not walk to the office or to their assembled class during the National Anthem or Pledge of Allegiance.

Star Keiki Days

"Star Keiki's" are recognized during a morning assembly held on the 1st available Friday of each month. Recognition is done at the end of the regular Flag Ceremony. Children are presented with a certificate, NHKS bumper sticker, and a small gift. Their photographs are displayed in the front office on a poster (which is available for purchase) and their names are printed in the monthly NHKS newsletter. Parents are encouraged to attend and may take pictures during the ceremony.

Christmas Program

All classes perform Holiday songs as part of this holiday celebration.  Parents and visitors are invited to attend this festive event. A breakfast social is held before the program and provided by the PTO for all to enjoy. Early dismissal of the students follows immediately after the program. After School Care is available.

Lei Day Program

Lei Day is a traditional celebration in Hawaii. The Lei Day Program includes the 2nd and 3rd grade classes portraying King Kamehameha and his Queen. Students are selected to represent the eight major islands. Songs and dances are performed by all classes. Parents and visitors are invited to attend this colorful event. A breakfast social is held before the program and provided by the PTO for all to enjoy. Early dismissal of the students follows immediately after the program. After School Care is available.

Fun Day

To celebrate the end of the school year, classes enjoy a variety of games and activities as they rotate through stations for a fun-filled morning.  Each station is sponsored by a classroom and run by volunteer parents.  A brown bag lunch is served to all students.  Dismissal for all levels follows the regular Early Dismissal schedule. After School Care is available.  For more information or to volunteer, contact any PTO Board Member.

Any additional special school activities will be announced in monthly parent bulletins and/or class newsletters.  Please check the NHKS PTO page for additional events, activities, and fundraisers sponsored by the organization.
