Attendance Policy
Regular attendance is important for
a good student record. Students should neither miss
nor be late for class unless it is absolutely
necessary. Excessive absences and/or tardiness are
subject to a Child Protective Services (CPS) report
being made per State regulatory procedures. Students
who are absent 20 or more days during the school
year may not be promoted to the next grade level.
Parents must observe school policies when absence or
tardiness occurs.
A student must be in school for at
least half of the school day to be marked present.
When a child is absent, parents should call the
office at 423-1727 to report the cause of absence.
If the student is absent for three (3) or more
consecutive days, a note from home explaining the
reason must be sent in by the parent. A physician
must also provide excuse notes for absences due to
communicable diseases (e.g., chicken pox, strep
throat and conjunctivitis) with a written clearance.
If you know that your child is going
to be absent from school for a week or more, please
inform the office and the classroom teacher. The
teacher may have a special assignment for your child
to replace the missed classroom assignments.
